A great season for Peonies at Peony Farm

What a great season we’ve had at Peony Farm.  In addition to plentiful, beautiful peonies and a sunny weather – we enjoyed seeing our old friends, and got to meet their family members and new friends in the garden.  It’s also a pleasure to meet people taking a short trip to Sequim, or vacationing  in the Olympic Peninsula.

I love sharing ideas with visitors about the peony culture.  I so enjoy the oohs and aahs and exclamations about the wonderful atmosphere the garden offers to one and all alike!

This year, our local newspaper The Peninsula Daily News honored us. They featured an article about Peony Farm,  you can read it here:    http://www.peninsuladailynews.com/article/20150608/NEWS/306089992

As a result of this article,  residents from Sequim, and outlying communities came to visit and congratulated us for being selected by Garden Design Magazine for their Spring 2016 issue.

I, for one, am looking forward to Garden Design Spring 2016 issue!

The peonies are done blooming and until next blooming season, we bid our friends “so long”.

If you’ve missed coming down to visit with us,  you can still view the beautiful peonies in color at Peony Farm 2015 Catalog.    This also affords you the ability to place an order before your selection is all sold out.

RIOT OF COLOR WHEN PEONIES ARE IN BLOOM

The peonies are blooming now and what a riot of color and fragrance that is!

Visitors to the farm/gardens are amazed at the beauty they see . The flowers in bloom are indeed gorgeous and a sight to behold.  And for our locals, those who had not visited the farm before were astounded that we have been at this location for over 5 years now and the number of peony varieties planted (over 2,500 peonies).

Blooming days for Peonies

Peony lovers all over the USA, including me, count the days every year when the Peonies are blooming.

From May 15 to June 28, Peony Farm is once again opening its farm to the public for the much awaited blooming of the peonies. During this 2 months window, peonies of different blooming periods (there are 7 of them) will be opening 7-10 days apart. This is why some peony lovers choose different varieties in order to enjoy an extended blooming period.

Heavenly Peonies at Peony Farm

I’ve always felt that a visit to the Peony Farm is a way to de-stress, because of the comments we receive.  They delight in the peace and beauty surrounding the farm, the fragrance wafting in the air from the peony blossoms and the variety of peonies.  They are amazed to discover that there are some many varieties available.

Thank heaven for peonies companion plants

The Peonies are Gone!

So sad to see the Peony Farm after all the peony blossoms had been deadheaded.   All those gorgeous, beautiful flowers gone.

However, my husband was quick to remind me, that we still have all the peony shrubbery dotting the landscape.  And, fortunately, I planted the entrance beds with peony companion plants such as Nasturtiums, Roses, Lilies,  Hydrangeas, Eremurus, Hebes, Japanese Maple, Irises, Boxwood and other trees.

These are now providing the color for the farm.   Check out the  video created by my sister, Christina.  Click on “The Peonies are gone” above.

By the way,  we are still taking orders for bare root peonies of these lovely scented peonies for shipment this Fall 2014.   You can find a great selection at www.shopilovepeonies.com

Thank You, Thank You, Peony Farm Thanks You!

Peony Farms Thank YouThank You to all who visited the Peony Farm

Each year we are graced by people who come to visit the farm.  They bring with them their enthusiasm for peonies, their knowledge and experience and most of all, their friendship.

They are full of appreciation of the beauty and variety of peonies growing at Peony Farm.

Awash with Color

The Annual Peonies on Parade hosted by Peony Farm ended June 29, 2014.  However, the colorful memory of the peonies in bloom  is still fresh in our mind.  The remaining peony blossoms we harvested, from which my sister, Christina, wove her magic and created beautiful peony arrangements surrounded us for the week of the 4th of July.

Peony Farm is Awash with Color,  peony flowers, and it is a sight to behold.

Invitation to the Soroptimist Gala Garden Show

Yes, it’s that time of the year again. The Soroptimist Garden Show in Sequim, Wa is scheduled fr March 17 (wear you greens now for St Patty’s day) & 18, 2012 – to be held t the Sequim Boys & Girls club.

And, of course, we shall be there with our peonies, ensata iris,  oriental papaver, and perhaps some fir trees.  By the way, we will be having a raffle at the end of each day for a 5 ga fir tree.  So be sure and stop by.

Each year is a learning year for us.  Last year we noticed that some vendors are selling peonies with leaves!  Well, we grow our peonies for sale locally.  We won’t cheat.   However,  we did put some of our peonies in our greenhouse to give them a little boost of warmth.   So, we just might have some peonies with their “snouts” showing.  And, of course, the Early Blooming variety will be sporting some stems and leaves by that time.

If you wish to check us ut before hand, just click on this Peony Farm link.

See you there!
